Last few stops on our journey. Mark Lane, were we didn't find any sign of where the tube used to be, but I liked the stange markings on the road. The work of a demented road worker or perhaps some alien intelligence.
Then on to St. Marys. Once again, any evidence seems to have been lost to make way for fried chicken and booze shops... or are we just standing in the wrong place :-/
Shorditch station still has the old building, hurrah, although looking a little worse for wear these days, with a man pissing on it just out of shot.
By the time we get to City Road, Anna looks like she has lost the will to live. I like the facade on this building, because it would have been a bit of an eyesoar if it was just plain bricks.
York Road Station is still there in all its glory. The tops of my legs now starting to look as red as the tiles on the station. Should have used more suncream.... especially since it looks like the sun has exploded in this photo and is just about to engulf me. Unfortuately, the sun hadn't exploded, it just meant the end of our disposible camera with one stop remaining!!! We went to South Kentish Town anyway, and vainly posed and clicked the camera anyway... just in case.
25 miles later, and it was time for a beer and then bed.

Aldwych station or Strand? Open for public visits except on the day we were there. Ah well.... then under the shadow of Monument, we found the plaque to King William street station. We checked the map to discover we had 8 more miles to cycle. Despite pleading from our tired legs, we decided to walk up the 311 steps to the top of monument for the awesome view and a little certificate to commorate the achievment..... one to show to our grand children perhaps.

Continuing our circuit of abandoned stations.... I look like quite a dork in this picture of Brompton road station. Like a creepy scout leader. On our way to the next station we came across a pizza place with a red tile facade. Not sure if this was an underground station but it sure looks like one. Thanks to my poor camera operating skills we didn't take a photo of Down Street.... but we did go there, honest! It also had the old red tiles (now a corner shop).... unlike british museum, which just had a boring Nationwide branch where the station used to be >:-/

Where the ashes urn has been lost so many times, it seems we've lost a tube station too. The only evidence of Lord's station is a weird door outside the weirdly named hotel... Danubius! (the latin for the river Danube I think)
From here we cycled for what seemed like ages during the midday sun, towards sheperds bush... getting lost a few times on the way...
...only to find a sign with two lost sheep heading towards the word subway.

We sat at the bus stop while we drew and wrote. A man waiting for the bus had to stand.

Some more pics from my cycle ride around abandoned tube stations. For some there is more evidence than others... here you can see some tracks over the wall, but theres a load of contruction were the old building should be. We liked how the constuction companies slogan in this picture is "Improving the image on construction"....because i guess improving the image is easier than actually improving the construction itself... although they've made quite an eyesore so not even sure what image they mean. I guess we didn't see any bum cracks!
